VMware Cloud Director support

VMware Cloud Director (VCD) is another cloud platform supported by Cloud Advisor, along with AWS, Azure, GCP and Huawei Cloud.

Cloud Advisor security engineers have created the Cloud Advisor Best Practices for VCD standard for organizations using public clouds provided by a cloud provider based on the VCD platform. Cloud Advisor Best Practice for VCD is a list of recommendations for technical security measures when using VCD based on CIS and CSA CCM standards and recommendations from cloud providers and security experts around the world.

The CSPM (Cloud Security Posture Management) module performs automated checks of resource configurations within tenants against Cloud Advisor Best Practice for VCD recommendations. In addition, Cloud Advisor provides the ability to formulate and enforce your own rules, both in the area of security and the use of VCD clouds.

Resource inventory functionality is implemented for the VCD platform, which stores data about all resources in connected tenants in a single database and provides a flexible query language to retrieve information to facilitate monitoring and management. This information can be displayed in a web console or provided via API for use in an external CMDB/GRC system.

The Cost Optimization module identifies unused and underutilized resources and provides recommendations for selecting optimal resources for virtual machines.
