Antimalware in the cloud. Workload inventory on virtual machines and containers.

March 04, 2024

The new version of Cloud Advisor includes an Antimalware module that scans virtual machines and container images in the public cloud. The module searches for ransomware, trojans, viruses, miners, and other malware.

Cloud Advisor performs scanning using an innovative, patented technology that analyzes files on a snapshot rather than on the disk itself. This approach ensures deployment in minutes, 100% coverage of the entire infrastructure, and no impact on virtual machine performance.

Additionally, the updated Inventory module allows you to get a list of packages installed on virtual machines and containers, and find out on which of them a particular package is installed (for example, Nginx or PostgreSQL). In this way Cloud Advisor provides information about objects running at all levels of the cloud infrastructure:

  • Cloud level (VMs, IAM users, disks, managed databases, etc.);
  • Managed Kubernetes cluster level (Pods, Images, Containers, Deployment, ReplicaSet, etc.);
  • OS level (packages running on VMs/containers).

Information about these resources is displayed in the web console and accessible via API, which allows offloading data about resources deployed in the cloud to third-party systems (such as GRC or CMDB).
